It’s really a great, all-in-one entertainment mecca of a laptop, perfect for your dorm or apartment.   At first, the HDX looks like the standard HP lines with a piano-black pinstriped finish and cool splasher imprint design, but with the dual-hinge display you get a more versatile 20.1 inch, high definition 1680 x 1050 pixel LCD.  Bad ass.  There’s a slew of multimedia buttons and controls with a webcam and some great-sounding quad Altec Lansing speakers.

With the dual-hingle display, you can move the display back and forth to set a preferred distance for your eyes.  It’s tight and compact with a full-sized keyboard, and while heavy, saves desk space.

At the top, you can find controls for the normal play / pause / stop / forward / reverse / eject, as well as the normal controls for volume and added equalization.  There’s a feature button for playing DVDs, TV, and Wi-Fi radio.  These buttons are touch-sensitive, so you need to be careful where you’re resting your hands.  it was never a problem for any of us.

Overall, this is a great laptop for the entertainment hungry crowd.  If you’re looking for economy, the we advise looking at a MacBook.  But hey, you can get free laptops here, so what’s the issue with price?
