This is my weekly update post. I’ll try to do one up every weekend. (Monday is secretly a weekendday.)

I’ve made some mistakes with Anki. Put in too many words without any context. (I have several compounds that happen to begin with ร which I keep confusing.) But for the most part, I think it’s helping. I have my first few “mature” cards (delay of over 21 days) but that’s pretty arbitrary. I’m going to experiment with some different types of cards.

Reading: Worked through the A Short History of Thailand reading in Thai for Advanced Readers. (A reader I heartily recommend.) This text used to be extremely difficult, but now only a few bits give me trouble. The news stories which follow are still pretty difficult; but I haven’t properly gone over them. I tend to not be satisfied with getting the gist and instead want to look up every single word I don’t understand 100%. I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.

Listening: Besides watching รักเธอทุกวัน, I haven’t done squat.

Speaking/writing: None.

General reading: Halfway through An Introduction to Second Language Acquisition Research. Much of it is a little too out of my depth to opine on, but it’s reasonably accessible to me, and I’ve found it fascinating. It will provide fodder for more than a few posts; I just need to digest it.

Goals for this week: Explore new SRS strategies. Over-analyze some of the news stories in TFAR. Finish the Doraemon story. Put some Thai news on my iPod.

(You’ll notice no mention of Vietnamese. I’ll get to it… but not right yet. Blame life.)
