Yeah, it’s been a little while since last I wrote. I’ve been busy!
Honestly, I’m not even sure what to write about. I’ve been really introspective lately, which you would think would make for good bloggin’ material. Sadly, it’s all a bit too intense for this normally light-hearted scrawl of mine.
Although I’ve been busy, it hasn’t really been too exciting. Mostly work. I am enjoying my new job, I will say that much. The only problem I have at work is that my office is entirely too small for what’s expected of me. I need to have my OS X and Windows 7 computers… I use laptops for both of those because they take up less space. I have to have a station prepped for troubleshooting other people’s desktops at a moment’s notice. I have to have a place to keep charged 50 FlipCams at a time, and I have to have room to support 60+ laptops, plus countless printers, desktops, monitors, etc. This picture, here? That’s my whole office. I feel weird about it, but I kind of think I should ask about maybe getting a bigger office. I just don’t know how to go about it without them thinking me ungrateful for them giving me an office at all, y’know? I dunno. At least it’s not a cubicle, I suppose.
Pat told me yesterday that my old boss’s job just got posted on MSU’s job site. I don’t really have much of a desire to go back to work for RHS again, but a level 13 position (and like a $20k/yr raise) is tough to turn down. From what my existing contacts there tell me, things are grim for my old division. Shit’s falling apart all over the division and there’s no real leadership. Enter Rob! There’s basically nobody more qualified for that job than me in terms of divisional knowledge and practical expertise for it… I’m sure I won’t get it, though. I didn’t leave on bad terms or anything, but they’ll probably want someone with a degree and all that jazz… even though the posting doesn’t specify that. In the extremely unlikely event that I did get the job, I’m still not sure I would take it. I love my new job, and the people I work with are awesome. I think I’d feel terrible ditching them like that. It would mesh well with my goal of becoming a CTO by time I’m 30, though.
Watching “The Return of the King” now. Good stuff. I wish I had a beacon on top of my house I could light up whenever I’m in distress, or just want someone to talk to. It would likely burn the building down, being that it’s just a giant pile of burning sticks… a faggot, technically called… but, it’d be fun for a few minutes anyway.
With that, I think it’s time for some Taco Bell. Away!
