Should I buy a laptop or netbook?

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Going back several years, the only question asked several times for me was, I get a laptop instead of a desktop computer? Although there is no definitive answer, because each person's needs are different, the answer is probably changed 80-80% NO% YES. The reason for this is to reduce the gap between desktop and notebook computers, in terms of performance, reliability and storage capacity.

Now we have a quarrel between netbooks and notebooks as peopleexplore the possibility of going even more portable. Let's see how the main considerations in the debate Laptop vs Netbook.

Size

Netbooks are mini notebooks effect and have the advantage of size for portability. They tend to be lighter because of this, so if you intend to use for travel, are ideal. Laptops, by contrast, are size and weight in comparison.

Display and keyboard

Because of their smalldimensions, netbooks tend to have smaller keyboards and displays. This varies from model to model. Laptops for the most part, are the keys of standard size with standard screen sizes for desktop display. If you have large hands and do not write much, it can become annoying very quickly netbooks. Also, if you need to have a lot on the screen simultaneously, laptops have the advantage with its resolutions and larger screen.

Performance

The laptops are almost new desktop with processor speed increaseproducers find new ways to squeeze extra performance from smaller components. Without getting too technical, laptops have a great advantage in running performance. Also coming to say that if you want to use a computer for processor-intensive activities, a netbook is not currently an option.

Connectivity

Most netbooks tend to have a pair of USB ports and wireless network. They do not tend to have units of CD / DVD. These days have re-Portable DVD writers andusually 3 or 4 USB ports and VGA output for display on an external monitor. To view your DVD collection on your new laptop has the advantage.

Cost

The price of a netbook is the functionality and usefulness, as is that of a laptop. I would say today, a laptop has a better chance of growth with the needs of users and therefore offers better value. If cost is the ultimate factor in choosing between the two, I'd go fora cheap laptop in a Netbook. If you want to surf the web and keep up with friends on Facebook a netbook is a very good choice.

Storage

Netbooks tend to have less storage capacity of notebook computers, although this has improved over time and will probably continue to do so. If you want to store lots of videos and photos without the need for external storage, a new laptop has the advantage.

Battery

With its small footprint, the lack ofDVD processors and low power consumption (in general) gain hands on netbooks at stake efficiency of energy consumption.

The bottom line is, you really have to be honest with you about how you will use the computer. I would say the only real reason to have a netbook on a laptop are portability and battery life. If you make a list of points on the choice you'll have a good idea of what to compare when shopping.
