Laptop FTAs are really free?

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Unless you have a habit of walking with eyes closed or live on another planet may not have noticed the large number of laptops that offers listings today. These offers often seem too good to be true, after all, why a company to give away a free laptop?

Well, as you probably guessed, I am not truly free – to get your gift should sign on the dotted line for airtime or mobile broadband contract canlast up to two years.

Most people understand that you do not get something for nothing and usually says it is still a good deal, because you can also sign a contract for a service that you're probably going to use anyway and the laptop is a sweetener . In some cases this may be true, you probably want to use mobile broadband and would be unlikely to switch from one company to another unless there is some benefit to it.

However, like many marketingstrategies, sometimes the truth can be stretched far beyond what counts. Often a similar offer that has no gift can be much cheaper and you pay the difference will be that the laptop would have cost if bought in completely.

As with any agreement with a catch, always a good idea to step back and not be swayed by flashy about sales, two years is an awfully long time to regret a decision made in haste. A better strategy is to go todo your homework – to calculate exactly how much you will pay for the duration of the contract and then see how the laptop would cost to buy with cash. Then compare this to an agreement in which incentives are not offered and is often surprised by the result.

That's all well and good, of course, if you have money, But what if – a new laptop is an attractive offer, after all, especially if you start university or is your existing machine kaput. Well, ifa credit card, probably will be cheaper than using it to finance its new laptop and pay the balance as soon as possible. If you do not have a credit card is near its limit or a little 'bland then a contract to make payments to broadband may be your best option.

The key word here is "could" and you should always take time to consider the options. Whatever you decide to do, provided you have done your research and decided on their personal time afterThere will be much more likely to respect the agreement reached – this is what it means to be a smart shopper is – right?

Apple’s MacBook Review:

This is Apple’s lower-end laptop, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work like a charm. The MacBook now shares a significant amount of specs with the new 13 inch MacBook Pro. It comes with a 2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and the Nvidia 9400M integrated graphics processor that you’ll find on the 13 inch MacBook Pro. Basically, both your gaming and media capabilities are essentially the same.
