Sony Enters Netbook Market with New Addition to Vaio Line – Super Free Laptop

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

If you are a fan of the Sony Vaio line of computers and have been waiting for the company to roll out a netbook model in this line, wait no longer, because Sony will be unveiling a new netbook, the new W-Series, in August of 2009.

While Sony’s model is a latecomer to the burgeoning netbook market, the company claims that the delay was an intentional part of its product planning strategy.

Initial Netbook Launch Will Be in Japan

The new netbook will be launched in Japan first around August, and it will be in stores in the US and Europe a short time afterwards. It is anticipated that the new Vaio netbook will operate on a lower grade of specs than most Sony computers and will cost approximately $630. A greatly responsive and upgraded keyboard will be offered, along with the Windows XP Home Edition operating system.

W-Series May Be Perfect for Sony Vaio Consumers

For Sony laptop fans that are unable to afford some of the full-sized Sony laptops and do not have the time to pursue other options such as a super free laptop, this nifty new netbook may be the answer.

The new Sony Vaio netbook will cost a little bit more than comparable netbooks in the marketplace. But a nice collection of software programs and other features that are not included in a lot of the netbooks available on the market are bundled with this netbook.

W-Series Vaio Netbook Overview

* Convenient Travel Size: In comparison to the competition which generally provides 8.9-inch screens, the new W-Series netbook will offer a 10.1 inch screen and will weigh approximately 2.6 pounds. This Netbook has the following measurements: 10.54″ x 1.28″ x 7.07.

* Battery Life: The new W-Series will come with a battery which should last 3.5 hours on average.

* Display Specs: The display specs on the W-series give other netbooks a run for their money with an impressive resolution of 1366 x 768 on a 10.1-inch screen. Most of the netbooks on the market are offering 1024 x 600. The W-Series also incorporates LED backlighting and the XBRITE-ECO LCD technology.

* Hardware: The W-Series will include hardware that is similar to that offered on other netbooks, such as: an Intel 1.66 GHz processor, 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive for storage, touchpad, built-in Web cam, microphone, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, and Intel High Definition Audio Sound System.

* Expansion Ports: The W-Series netbook has plenty of expansion ports, more than the average netbook on the market. Equipped with two USB ports, an SD card slot reader, a VGA port, and a Memory Stick Duo media slot using MagicGate, it is also called the Vaio W.

* Bluetooth: Unlike most other netbooks the Vaio W has built-in Bluetooth technology with the option of connecting via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

* Available in Colors: Many colors inspired by food will be offered by the W-Series. Among the shades that are offered are brown, white and pink, symbolizing chocolate, cheesecake and raspberry flavors.

If you are searching for a quality netbook, and don’t mind paying more than you would for other notebooks, you might want the Sony Vaio W. So it is worth taking a look at when it is available for sale in August.
